General Scooter Rental Conditions
1. Driver’s license: The driver should have a driver’s license or an international driver’s license for the respective category of motorcycle. The driver’s license must be valid and issued in the renter’s country of residence at least one year prior to the rental date. For categories A (125 cc) possession of a category A1 – A2 – A license, for categories B – C -D ( 200cc, 300 cc, 400cc) possession of a category A2 – A license.
2. Rental duration: Minimum rental duration is one day (24 hours). A delay of more than 2 hours is charged an additional rental day.
3. Use: The use of a scooter is only allowed on the island of Kefalonia. Αny use outside the island is expressly prohibited.
4. Insurance: All rental prices include simple liability insurance. The renter is liable for any damage or theft (partial or total) caused to the rented scooter up to the amount of its commercial value at the time of the accident/theft.
The renter pays the amount corresponding to the damage to the scooter of Velox Rentals, regardless of fault and the amount paid is returned to him when and as long as Velox Rentals is compensated by the insurance company. The driver is insured only in case of an accident which was not caused by his own fault.
Theft security: There is no theft security. All scooters are equipped with a handlebar lock and an additional safety lock.
ATTENTION: No Insurance Coverage Applies:
- For anything that happens and it is found that the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- In case the driver is responsible for the accident.
- For damages caused by driving on unpaved roads.
- For damage caused to the bottom of the scooters, tires and rims.
- For accidents caused by a driver not stated in the rental contract.
- For accidents for which the lessee has not informed the Velox Rentals office and filed/submitted a relevant accident statement, as defined by Greek Legislation, regardless of his fault.
The amounts related to the damage or loss of the scooter are paid directly by the renter even if he is covered by insurance on his debit/credit card. In this case, the renter is obliged to pay Velox Rentals the full cost of repairing or replacing the scooter.
5. Fuel: Fuel costs are borne exclusively by the lessee. The renter is obliged to return the scooter with the contents of the tank as when he received it. Otherwise, the amount of fuel consumed is charged. The renter is obliged to follow the manufacturing specifications of the rented scooter and to fill the tank with the type of fuel required each time.
6. Road assistance: In the event of an accident, the cost of transportation has to be paid by the renter.
7. Guarantee: For all categories the scooter rental is only possible with a credit card for guarantee.
8. Method of payment: The rental of the scooter is paid upon delivery in cash or with a Visa, or Mastercard credit card. American Express cards are not accepted.
9. Deliveries – Pick-ups: They are made only at our station and within its opening hours. Outside of our opening hours and holidays, delivery and pick-up are only possible by appointment, extra charges might apply.
10. Reservations: To reserve a scooter, a deposit of 30% of the rental is required in cash or by credit card. You pay the rest upon delivery of the scooter.
11. Cancellations: In case of cancellation of the reservation, the deposit is not returned.
12. Traffic Violations – Fines: All fines and administrative penalties are borne by the lessee.
13. Miles: For all categories the mileage is free.
14. Helmet: A free helmet is offered to the driver and passenger.
15. Additional Driver: All additional drivers must be declared at the start of the rental.
16. Taxes: All prices are subject to VAT as determined by the state.
17. The types of scooters shown in the photos are indicative.
18. In special cases, Velox Rentals reserves the right to replace any type of scooter with another of the same category (or higher).
